Nokill network can help you responsibly rehome your pet. Led by Best Friends Animal Society , the NKLA initiative is poised to serve as a model for how the entire nation can become no-kill, with no pet ever having to die in a shelter again simply because they do not have a home.

But thanks to the hard work of so many, including the entire NKLA Coalition, Mayor Garcetti, Los Angeles Animal Services, our fabulous local community and devoted volunteers, we are thrilled to announce a sustained save rate of Join us. Adopt - Adopting a pet means saving a life. If you are interested in adopting a pet, please complete our dog adoption survey , cat adoption survey or kitten adoption survey to provide us information about your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a dog or cat.

An adoption specialist will be in touch with you within 48 hours via phone or email to advise next steps. Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support for the animals of Los Angeles during these unprecedented times. As a result, many conditions that would doom the life of a dog or cat in another shelter can be treated here. We perform amputations when needed, remove tumors, set broken limbs, and often can treat contagious conditions like mange or ringworm, all on animals that were otherwise adoptable, in order to save their life and ensure they wind up in a home.

We work diligently to provide training and behavior modification to dogs, including those with problems. Perhaps with limitations, that dog can be safely placed in a home. This is not always possible but the decision to euthanize comes only after considerable effort, and with the support from staff. Euthanasia is not the fault of any shelter, public or private.

The fault belongs to people who do not support spay and neuter or practice responsible pet ownership. As long as there are owners who abuse or neglect animals, who casually discard animals, or who allow unaltered pets to run free, there will be dedicated shelter workers performing humane euthanasia.
