That is where I found out about RTB. I started volunteering in March of , a few months after I retired. It was just about six weeks before their annual event, Rebuilding Day, which takes place every year on the last Saturday in April. The organization is nationwide and partners with many well known suppliers of home rebuilding items, like Lowe's, HGTV, Sears and Home Depot, to help low income residents of the city and the county make their homes warmer, safer and drier.
I was able to speak to the prospective clients and assess their repair needs, and help with the registration of our new volunteers. It is incredibly heart warming to bring a smile to a person's face you can hear it over the phone who finds out that they are living in one of our target neighborhoods and might be able to qualify for free repair assistance.
