It is all about the secret egg sauce! Still great. A little pricey but its fun to watch the tableside cooking. The only reason I wasn't fully happy with it was because they did not have crab which is the only thing I get or tuna which is what someone else in my party wanted, and the waitress didn't seem to care when she told us.
Loved the service and the food. Food was good but service was not, especially for the price. We waited 20 mins for a table even though we had a reservation, waited 45 mins for our food to be cooked and another 30 mins just to pay our bill. Good and hibachi chef was great. Server was not good and it was waaaayyy too hot. We were so sweaty it was difficult to enjoy. Our first time there, so we didn't know we had to share our table. I wish I would've known sooner, but overall it was great.
My Chef Salgondo Was exceptional. The cook overcooked the meat. Was sad they didn't have yum yum sauce. It was also a bit pricy for the small amount of food you received. Experience was very underwhelming. Expected way more compared to other places like this I have been. The food was amazing as always. This place was awesome!
The service was amazing, chefs were extremely prompt and professional and the food is off the chain!! Quality is going down. We've been coming to Ron of Japan for over 20 years. Exceptional service and food is always fantastic! Good birthday dinner. Insanely expensive for what you get. Our server continued to rush us through every course. It was not pleasant at all because of the waiter. Our table was still full of our dinner dishes snd he brought our dessert out without clearing of the dinner dishes first.
He was horrible. Good, but overpriced. Kids meals were certainly overpriced. Egg sauce was good. Great service. My family and my favorite is the shogun. This was my first time at the downtown location. Great atmosphere. This is my favorite restaurant.
I would recommend this to everyone. Have been going here for 25 years. Thank you for an amazing experience!! We got the shrimp and king crab combo meals and the crab was tough and tasteless! When did that become an ala cart item? It used to be included, along with noodles, which we didn't get this time. And while we couldn't care less about all the tricks that the cooks normally do, our cook did nothing Honestly, he must have asked us 6 different times???
But, if this was your first time or you had kids with you, all the fun tricks the cooks normally do are an important part of the meal. I was a bit shocked, but since we were with someone from out of town, I didn't look too closely at the bill. Since when do restaurants automatically add in the tip for 3 people?
Amazing food as always!!! Highly recommend!! Egg sauce out of this world!! Ron of Japans is my family's favorite restaurant and I went there with three friends who had never dined there. Our group really loved the food. We had two issues: First, although the restaurant was not busy on a Tuesday night with a 5PM reservation, we did feel rushed by a new waiter who did not appear to be trained properly. Second, we were celebrating two birthday. I quietly told hostess and she wanted to know if we wanted one or two pineapple tops brought out.
I said two. That never occurred which was disappointing. Went for a birthday, got private table in the back. My youngest birthday and she chose ROJ, just like her old man me does for his bday. The place was jumping with energy and it was packed. It was a great thing to see after the last 12 months or so we all went through.
The food is perfect as always, the shrimp with egg sauce is legendary. The steaks are high quality and the lobster my bride had was awesome. Looking forward to returning soon. The food was delicious and staff friendly! Felt safe with checking temperature, requiring mask, and people at the table. Made reservations for 4,. Shrimp Crown dinner is amazing! Narrow lounge-inspired 'alleys' around a central bar bedecked with hand-painted Japanese menus, moody neon lights, and vintage Tokyo street signs set the scene for the Izakaya's direct nod to Tokyo's most famous post-war black markets.
Dark, energetic, and ripe with expectation, the Izakaya additionally offers a seat bar featuring crafted cocktails, sakes, and a quality selection of Japanese whiskeys.
